Yoanna Pietrzyk

Artist, illustrator and photographer Yoanna Pietrzyk forms mostly portraits that seem to depict intimacy, passion and detachment. Mostly distorted or smudged in someway you get the feeling that somewhere, at some point affection has gone awry. Occasionally she uses captions: “I am really sorry that i had to go” and “beauty is in the eye”. It would appear that she uses photography as the basis for her illustration, as the thoughtful and solemn expressions appear to capture one defined moment in time. Drawing mostly sketchy outlines on a white background mean that any use of colour is particularly poignant and the overlapping of images give a ghostly perspective. Her previous experience covers various work for The Hospital Club, Fashion 156 Magazine and let Them Eat Cake Magazine to name a few and her achievements include displays at the International Photography Festival in Lodz, South London Gallery and the Museum of Everything, Tate Modern.
